How it works

How MAPComply collects MAP evidence

MAPComply records what a shopper was shown: a price, a seller, a time and a page. Here is exactly how.

What we look for

For each of your products on each page we check, we record the product, the seller, the advertised price, any deal attached to it (coupon, promo code, subscribe & save, member or bulk price), whether the price is hidden, the listing's condition and stock, and whether the seller holds the buy box.

How we match products

Identifiers first: ASIN, UPC and model number. Then the title. A match we aren't sure of is marked "needs review" and never counted as a finding.

What counts as evidence

Every sighting keeps the page URL, the time we saw it (in UTC and your timezone), a screenshot or the page source, and a SHA-256 hash of what we captured, so it can be shown later exactly as it was.

A finding is a possible violation until you confirm it. Nothing is counted that can't be shown.

What we can't see

Prices shown only to signed-in members, prices in other countries (we check as a US shopper), and pages that block us on a given day. When we can't check something, we say so and why, rather than leaving a blank that looks like all clear.

How often we check

The paid plan checks your products every day. The free scan is a one-time check of up to five Amazon products.

Where AI is used

To help match products, to write reports and draft notices, and in the AI assistant, which is always labelled as an AI assistant. AI never confirms or exempts a finding, changes your MAP policy or contacts a seller.

Security and data

Where your data is stored, how long we keep it and the companies that process it for us will be listed here before paid accounts open.
